Nicole Kidman has spent $4 million on a Walsh Bay penthouse, suggesting she and her fiance, the singer Keith Urban, intend it to be their occasional Sydney nesting place after their impending marriage. The two-storey apartment, with three bedrooms and three bathrooms, was initially listed last August with expectations it would fetch more than $4.5 million. The 303-square-metre penthouse shares its lobby with just one other apartment, owned by the body corporate chairman, Bruce Fallshaw. Other sixth-floor neighbours include BridgeClimb's Paul Cave, the former Arnott's chairman Duncan McDonald and his wife, Vivienne, and the stockbroker Peter Burrows and his wife, Professor Jane Hall. The purchase was made through the shelf company ACN 118 688 289 Pty Ltd, directed by Kidman's father, Antony, with its shareholding vested with the solicitor John Picone. Mr Picone has been responsible for prior purchases by the actress, dating back to when she and Tom Cruise bought their Darling Point duplex in the mid-1990s. The penthouse was bought from Cameron Grace, the director of Harvey Grace Funds Management, and his wife, Polly, who purchased off the plan for $3 million in 2000. Rock star on right note with 301 by Christine Sams Savage Garden star Daniel Jones has bought one of Australia's iconic music studios in a multimillion dollar plan to relocate to Sydney. Jones has revealed he is the new owner of Studios 301 in Castlereagh Street, the place where some of Australia's greatest rock bands, including Midnight Oil, Cold Chisel and Crowded House, recorded their best-known albums. It was also the site where Slim Dusty recorded The Pub With No Beer in 1957. "I've bought the original 301 studios - it's like buying a little piece of history really," Jones told The Sun-Herald. Jones was coy about the price of the studio complex, but it was believed to be at least $2 million. "As far as commercial property goes - which is what it really is - it was a reasonably good deal." The songwriter and producer, who sold more than 22 million albums with Savage Garden before pulling the pin on his high-profile pop career to focus on producing, has been based in Queensland for the past few years. His decision to buy the site was based on finding a new working premises for when he moves from Queensland. Jones and his wife Kathleen de Leon, a star from television's Hi-5 series, decided to move to Sydney to be closer to family support because they are expecting their first baby this year. Although Jones has kept himself out of the limelight for the past few years, he revealed he is considering an offer to work as a producer for the next series of Australian Idol on Channel Ten. Finalists will record tracks at the studios and Jones may make occasional appearances on the program to show how he is moulding contestants towards a successful pop career. Jones bought Studios 301 from a company run by audio industry millionaire Tom Misner. You can buy too at 301 Castlereagh Street Sydney. Search for commercial property in Sydney CBD. Source: SMH
